Investigation of CoCr Dental Alloy: Example from a Casting Workflow Standpoint

چکیده
Cobalt-chromium (CoCr) alloys have been used in dentistry for dental bridges, crowns and implants decades. When using CoCr alloys, a number of fractures occurred the Dental Laboratory, both when handling castings after they placed patient’s mouth. It is assumed that key cause resulting bridges casting process, which includes preparation mixing basic components alloy, unstable solidification final treatment tooth surface. The aim this study was, therefore, to examine three differently prepared from alloy. For initial we selected one supplied directly manufacturer; test samples were alloy remelted four times same crucible, while fourth sample was remaining solidified taken at last remelting. Characterisation microstructure all performed by optical scanning electron microscopy equipped with an energy dispersive X-ray spectroscope diffractometry. Microhardness measurements also performed. investigation revealed composed matrix eutectic interdendritic composition precipitates, rich W Mo. two oxides identified as chromium oxide silicon content oxide, originated residue. high can be attributed ceramic melting mixed remains melting. second showed more regular elemental small quantity impurities Based on research, some recommendations made working reducing risk bridge future.

Dental casting of superelastic Ni-Ti alloy.
Rods of Ni-43.5wt% Ti alloy were prepared under various casting conditions. Specimens which were melted in a cordierite crucible and cast in a phosphate-bonded investment mold had less strength and elongation than those melted in a copper crucible and cast in a phosphate-bonded investment mold. All castings exhibited superelasticity at room temperature. The upper limit of recoverable strain was...
متن کاملInvestigation of the material removal characteristic for polishing CoCr alloy
To investigate the material removal characteristic of paste polishing, experimental investigations based on Taguchi method have been carried out. In the experiments, the dwell time was fixed 300 seconds and the bonnet position was 4. The four variable factors (precess angles, head speed, head pressure and tool offset) with 3 levels were chosen to design the orthogonal array. With the designed o...
متن کاملThe Release of Elements from Dental Casting Alloy into Cell-Culture Medium and Artificial Saliva
OBJECTIVES The biocompatibility of dental casting alloys is a critical issue because these alloys are in long-term intimate contact with oral tissues. Since the biocompatibility of alloys is not completely known; the release of elements from the alloys has been studied. The aim of this study was to compare the elemental release from dental casting alloy during exposure to artificial saliva and ...
متن کاملThe investigation of material removal in bonnet polishing of CoCr alloy artificial joints
In the process of form control using bonnet polishing an influence function is of vital importance for establishing material removal rates. However, the effects of polishing cloth, workpiece hardness and polishing parameters (such as precess angle, head speed, tool pressure and tool offset) on influence function when polishing CoCr alloys are not yet established and these factors affect the det...

This tendency seems to be the same a]1 over the world, However, the expanded use of nickel-containing base metal alloys in dentistry has raised questions concerning their biological s fety, namely, carcinogenic and sensitivity risks.i) On the other hand, since pure titanium or titanium-based alloys have excellent biocom...
